This will probably end up making the rounds of major newspapers as an amusing quirk from the academic world, which it is: an economic analysis of leaving the toilet seat up or down. Conclusion: both parties in the common scenario can find arguments in their favour, although the most efficient solution is to leave the toilet seat in its last used state.
