Greetings from Greece

Hello from Athens! My folks and I arrived in Athens a few days ago and have been busy since then. We started out visiting the Acropolis, which towers over the city with the Parthenon and Temple of Athena Nike on the top. We wandered around Athens at night taking some nice pictures. Yesterday we took a tour out to Mycenae, the capital of one of the great prehistoric cultures (think Iliad and Odyssey) and Epidaurus, where there’s a beautifully preserved amphitheatre with such good acoustics that you can literally hear a coin drop on stage from the back row (our tour guide proved it to us, so I’m not exaggerating). Today we visited the National Archaeological Museum. Tomorrow we’re off on a cruise in the Aegean sea and then have trips planned to Olympia, Corinth, and Delphi. Before coming to Greece we stopped in at Oxford briefly for my graduation, which was actually lots of fun. I’m now Douglas Stebila, MSc (Oxon). We’ll be back on Star Wars Day! Bye for now!
