In Lausanne
Just a quick note to say that we’re in Lausanne. The note will be quick because (a) we’re tired and (b) it’s hard to type on a French keyboard. What’s the good of North American technical dominance if I can’t type on any keyboard in the world?
We left Oxford early at 4:00am (I stayed up all night to get my dissertation to a stage where I could send it to my supervisor). We arrived in Geneva around lunch and visited a fountain that shoots water 140m up in the air with some 1500 horsepower – it was really awesome! We did some cycling, then came to Lausanne and did some more cycling. Edouard, who I worked with in California a few summers ago, took us out to celebrate the Swiss national day, the official name of which I don’t know; we went swimming at a pool along the lake, and had a pseudo-barbecue along Lake Geneva.
Tomorrow we’re off to Interlaken for some good old fashioned hiking in the mountains. More later!
