Best Housemate Ever Contest

The contest is officially on. It’s the Best Current/Former Housemate Ever contest. Eligible participants include anyone who has lived with me for a period of 1 month or more. Sorry, family members are not eligible to enter.

From January 17 to 20, former-housemate Heather was in the lead, for having baked a caterpillar birthday cake for me. But now current-housemate Caroline is the leading contender, for having a wonderful chocolate cake (topped with white chocolate) waiting for me on my desk when I arrived back in Oxford.

The contest winner will have his or her name displayed in perpetuity on the web’s leading news and information site, www.douglas.stebila.ca, and will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having been a good housemate to me.

Let the games begin. Enoch, I’m waiting for your entry.

Nice favicon! Also, the spelling suggestions feature is neat.

A plain chocolate cake? The white chocolate is a nice tough, I must admit, but Douglas, I made you a green caterpillar cake complete with Chow Mein noodle antennae and licorice legs! And how many other people have carved peppers, or made origami cube chains for you?

Who’s willing to take me on? I am so winning this thing.

I must admit that Heather seems to be winning in the baking department. But what about the Olympics adoration category? The mutual Mac love association? Procurement of inexpensive (but legal) Microsoft software? Math 138 marking support group? Tickle fight champion – wait does that count against me? I could go on …

For the record, I think unit 304 should win best roommate performance by an ensemble cast. I miss you guys!

I’d like a category for “Best Male Housemate”. I already know I can’t compete with the love-in 304 became after I left, but if it’s me or another former Ottawa housemate I vote for me (unless Alex is in the running, that guy was cool).

What do you mean “a plain chocolate cake”?! There were white chocolate buttons, there were chocolate (Warner Bros) cartoon characters, there were candles, there was singing…(actually, better leave out the singing – I’d like to still have a chance of winning this competition…)

I believe that you are forgetting something and someone… What about me? You tell me several times a day how much you love me! And the multicoloured pasta I got you to brighten up your life definitely deserves to be mentioned. Some of them are green for the green-lovers amongst you.
